Hello,

It seems like this is all i ever talk about when I come on here. The quick pick box.

I was wondering if you could put an option on the quick pick box that has sort descending feature or open in descending order. I think I asked about it once before but can't remember what you decided to do about that.

Also here's an interesting idea the preview box, which I use all the time with the quick pick box. If there was a way to turn it on or off from the quick pick mode than that would save me at least 3 clicks of the mouse. Well maybe 2.

Here's something I noticed as well kinda funny. The "favorites" button in hurricane opens up the "favourites" box. <---- check spelling

Side note. I use this program constantly. Its never not open. I think the best feature is the favorites, at least for everyday use. I won't even use windows explorer anymore if I can avoid it. It always lags when I'm trying to scroll through files. Hurricane is like lightning, love it

Hey would it be possible to preview other types of files? That would keep me from ever touching explorer minus moving or copying files.

Anyways I know that was a lot of stuff, let me know if anything is possible.

Sorry, that can't be done. The Microsoft control won't allow changes during runtime.

I've attached an update (v6.5.6), added a "Preview" button, and also added hotkeys to the Refresh and Preview button. (Just use ALT-R and ALT-P to activate... but these will only work if the QuickPick box is in the foreground (active)) Here you go!

I think you might not have the latest version (previous to this message) You must be running 6.4.14!!... (I actually fixed that in 6.4.15) I didn't think anyone would notice!

Thanks a lot! I try... and especially all the users of Hurricane that keep throwing the ideas out there... so it should only keep getting better. Thanks for the suggestions!

Previewing other files won't be possible at the moment, as the control that displays the DWG files is strictly only for DWG's. I suppose you would want JPG TIF DWF etc...? This may be something that I would consider, but again, it is going off the AutoCAD path... maybe the concept of Hurricane (as a file navigation tool) can be applied as a separate package, maybe something to deal with media files (like there aren't enough of those out there heheh...)

Thanks for the comments, hopefully the update satisfies your current requests.

Best Regards,
Bill

Thanks for such a quick response, I like the preview button just a couple of glitches.

1)I always have my pick box on top of my other programs thats why I initially wanted to be able to change the size of it so I could put somewhere where it could always be up but not in the way. The always on top feature that I use turns itself off whenever i either switch from full mode to quick pick or when I open the preview box in quick pick mode. If you can find a way to change that or maybe something on my end that I could do to fix that that would be great.

2)The shortcut Alt P command will open or close the preview box but only if something is selected. say I open the preview on accident to close it back down I have to click on the quick pick box then hit alt p, if I want to use the shortcut keys which I do

3)The fre button when pushed just kinda looks weird. Also why did you choose fre and not Ref

sorry i'm getting nit picky now but these are just suggestions,

Last thing I swear(for now)Do you have a shortcut to go back to full mode from quick pick. that would be very nice.

Do what you can thanks.

Hi Germanc,

1) Sorry, that's just the way any windows app that uses window focusing works.

2) Like I mentioned in the previous message, like in any windows program, the program must be in focus to use any short-cut keys that that software may have available. If the Hurricane QuickPick box is not blue at the top (if you are using standard windows colors), then it is OUT of focus, and any shortcut key presses will be active for whichever OTHER app is currently focused.

3) I think you just have the Quick Pick box sized extremely narrow. The first button reads "Refresh", and the second reads "Preview". The Refresh button scales with the window, and the Preview button doesn't. I was asked not to restrict the width of the Quick Pick box, as someone wanted to be able to make it very thin, hence the work "Refresh", gets bumped to two lines and you see fre (as the word is actually centered on the button. Just grab the edge of the QuickPick box and resize it.

4) To got back to full mode from Quick Pick just click the small X in the top-right corner of the QuickPick box.

Let me know if you need some more help.

Regards,
Bill

ha the Refresh is hilarious, I didn't even think about stretching the box bigger to see the button. I've just had the size I have right now for so long I forgot I could stretch it back out.

When I use the Preview from the full view and go to the quick pick view I don't have any problems I can use the preview and close it down and as long as I go back to the full view again to hit the preview button it will stay on top. Weird. I wonder why when I use the new button in the quick pick view it turns it off. Just FYI

Side note - the fact that hurricane doesn't show up on the programs bar at the bottom in quick pick has always been nice. Was that done on purpose or just a good side effect.

Hi Germanc,

When Hurricane is in "Quick Pick" mode, actually the window is defined as a "Windows Tool Window", hence it doesn't show up in the programs bar at the bottom. It is an effect of the chosen window mode.

Bill
