This is AutoDesk's CHTEXT.LSP which they don't seem to include in new versions of AutoCAD.

It would also be useful to specify a specific block by name to search, as this would speed up the processing no end.

With APPLOAD, I added the CHT command. It is asking for "strings"

I want to find the word "GROUND" and replace it with "Robot"

This is the dialog on the command line I'm getting:

Search and replace text. Individually/Retype/<Globally>:g

New string : Robot
Changed 0 text lines.

It is not changing the text....and it is telling me that the text is not changed. What needs to be corrected, so I can find and replace a word?

Also, does this CHT command work on all text? I'm trying to change an text attribute in a block.

JMM,
I wonder if there aren't two copies of chtext.lsp on your computer. It looks to me like the one being loaded by your appload command cannot possibly be the one posted by BK. You state "I'm not getting the same response as you." The response that you refer to should be coming directly out of the lisp routine, and should be the one Bill posted, if you are using the chtext.lsp posted by BK.

I would try using BK's post. Drag the lisp file from Windows Explorer or your desktop into AutoCAD window to load it. That way you should be certain of which file is actually being loaded. You should get the same response as Bill that way, and hopefully the CHT command will work for you then.

I don't believe I have another lisp routine that also has CHT defined.

It's interesting. I'm using the APPLOAD command, and I receive:

chtext.lsp successfully loaded.
Command:
Command:

I'm not getting the same response as you.

In my Load/unload applications window under my "loaded applications" tab, I see chtext.lsp listed but it is grayed-out.

Hi JMM,

Not sure what you might be doing wrong... if I use the APPLOAD command, I get the following... and then I can type CHT, and it calls the lisp as expected.

Command:
 c:CHText loaded.  Start command with CHT.
Command:
Command: cht

Change text, Version 1.02, (c) 1990-1994 by Autodesk, Inc.
Select text to change...


Do you have another lisp routine that also has CHT defined?

Why doesn't Autocad recognize "cht" as a command? I successfully loaded chtext.lsp.
