Is there a way to automate, through a batch file or tool, the process of setting up custom menus. What I want to do is create an install program that will automatically install all the needed files for our custom tools. I would then like the program to automatically set up those menus in AutoCAD, add the search paths to the support file search in AutoCAD, and automatically add the custom lisp and VBA tools to the startup suite. I would like to be able to easily add to or take away from this install program due to the fact that the custom tool set will grow we create automated routines. This really has nothing to do with the use of Hurricane but I really need some help. Can someone advise me?

Hi Wayne,

I'm sorry that I don't have an answer for you (I would have put it up if I knew!)

I think that Kenny's instructions could help you, but that again (I believe) is for menus only, not toolbar buttons, and again, it looks like you have to do it from WITHIN AutoCAD.

I feel your pain.

Regards,
Bill

Admin,

I do have the Hurricane Script Button loaded. And if I new how to right a script that would do the things I need it to, which is listed in my initial post then I would. However, I do not. There are alot of things that a script won't handle therefore, we have written VBA and custom lisp tools. Since we would have to go out and redirect the Hurricane to run a specific script on a specific drawing for a specific function (those functions that a script cannot even do)it makes more since to use the tools that we have created. Those tools are usually launched from a button. Which requires menu's to be created. Once we have this set up on one machine, we wanted a simple way to distribute the tools, menu, set up search paths, and automatically place the files in their proper locations. Now if you know of a script that can do all this please foward that info to me.

Thanks...

Now if there was a way to easily add a toolbar button during program installation (outside of AutoCAD) we could avoid the MENULOAD, to load the Hurricane button with the macro.

Wayne -
Has anyone responded to your question? If not, check this out. Kenny Ramage (www.afralisp.com) is awesome. He automated this in VBA and LISP.
