I am having a problem with pagesetups in Autocad. I have selected my desired pagesetup under Tools>Options, but this is only for new drawings, correct? I am opening alot of older drawings, and I want to be able to have them automatically be set for my pagesetup (.pc3 file, and .ctb file), so that I won't have to select them each time I open a drawing to print. (I am lazy! haha).

Any advice besides using the pagesetup script in Hurricane? (I can use it, but the people in the drafting department don't have Hurricane).

Thanks!

Here is some more info on batch inserting pagesetups.
http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/item?siteID=123112&id=2871410&linkID=2475323

Here is the utility and the text file description

50.7 KB

This is pretty neat, as it generates a script for you to easily import the pagesetup from another DWG file using a script. You can then use the generated script in Hurricane to perform the import over many many files.

Here's a quote on how to set it up:
quote:

Issue
You want to install the PAGEIN utility.

Solution
PAGEIN is a utility for AutoCADŽ software that reads script files created using PAGEOUT. It also imports the page setup designated by the script file into the current drawing file, and then saves the imported page setup information to the current model or layout. After you run PAGEIN, your drawing is ready to plot.

Note: To avoid breaking the script in case the page setup name you designated already exists, the script file temporarily sets the EXPERT system variable to 2.

To install the PAGEIN utility, first download the Layout Utility Commands (24 KB).

Note: The aclyutil.arx file contains two other utilities, PageOut and ViewToLayout.

Copy aclyutil.arx to the folder where the AutoCADŽ software executable file is located.
On the Tools menu in AutoCAD, click Load Application.
In the Load/Unload Applications dialog box, click Contents.
In the Startup Suite dialog box, click Add.
In the Add File to Startup Suite dialog box, select aclyutil.arx, and then click Add.
Close the Startup Suite dialog box.
In the Load/Unload Applications dialog box, verify that aclyutil.arx was added to the Startup suite, and then click Close.
To use PAGEIN, type pagein on the command line and press ENTER

How does this handle the pstyles? What if the drawing is saved as Named plot style instead of Color Dependent plot style or vice versa?

The best way to overcome a repetative pagesetup application is to create a drawing called "Your_Company"_pagesetups.dwg as a master drawing. This will contain only pagesetups created
for all your sheet sizes, allocated ctb or stb files & output devices (plotter or printers).
This can then be inserted into each old drawing file via FILE>PAGESETUP.... you simply select ADD upon the pagesetup name then IMPORT, select the "Your_Company"_pagesetups.dwg containing all your created pagesetups. Select all the variations created then accept OK back to the command prompt.
I would try to convince your manager to purchase Hurricane as there is a pagesetup wizard under tools to automate the application loading.. you simply select the "Your_Company"_pagesetups.dwg and apply it to as many old drawings you want to attach it too. This will save you a great deal of time than individually opening each file.
