After a power outage, when we opened up Hurricane we were greeted with no script window or tabs. Is there a fix for this. This problem is on our licensed version. On another computer we are using a demo version and when go to run a drawing on it, an error comes up stating the the file hurricane.scr is read only, which it is not. Please advise.

No there is nothing else I can recommend through the forum.
If you e-mail support@74mph.com we can help better through a desktop share.
Maybe using CrossLoop.

I'm sorry, but neither suggestion worked. Is there any other suggestion that I can try?

Sounds like you have entered SIMPLE mode. Please run the ADMIN executable in the /KEYS/ directory and select the effected license, and uncheck the SIMPLE mode box.

As for your other issue, please double check the OS, as sometimes VISTA or WINDOWS 7 causes certain directories to report incorrectly. Often this is an issue with Windows UAC (User Access Control) and it's associated settings.
