We are in the process of decommissioning a machine. This machine was our original testing computer that we had a licensed copy of Hurricane. Our department is wondering if we could transfer the license over to a USB, so we do not have to do this process again in a year or two. We have previously purchased 4 USB licenses on top of the PC license I am referring to. |

Hi mlabell,
A couple of things to consider...
A KEY purchased for Hurricane is a KEY that will function forever, and can be used on any subsequent machines. The KEY is linked to a SOFT entity on the machine such as the "Network Name", or the "User Name".
So, when decomissioning your old PC, just take note of the PC-Network Name (See FAQ) (http://www.74mph.com/faq/FAQ00152.html), then rename the new machine to the same "Network Name" as the old machine, and the KEY fill unlock the new machine. It isn't much work to do this, so you might as well keep using the KEY you purchased. If you want to abandon the key you purchased, that is your choice, but there is no way to surrender it for a refund, or transfer it, as once it is released, it is released.
Just a reminder that Hurricane's licensing is different than other software you may be accustomed to purchasing. We do not charge you for fees for updates, bug-fixes or support of any kind. Once you purchase a KEY it is yours and will function for the life of the USER or the life of the PC-Name, both of which are entities you have full control over. Should you choose to abandon the username or the PC-Name you purchased it for, that is your choice.
(There are some users that purchased Hurricane close to 10 years ago, when Hurricane was in it's infancy. Those users have benefited from years of updates/fixes/support, not to mention saved time and aggrivation).
Also, there is a difference in pricing between the PC and USB licenses. This adds another complexity to your request.
