Posted - April 14 2004 : 08:26:41 AM Could anyone help me.
Every time I open a drawing though Hurricane or explorer i.e. double click the file, the drawing always opens in a 'new' Acad program, even though i have Acad already running.
My collegue who has exactly the same set up (as far as i can see), and his opens in a new window within the open acad package.
Is there a tick box i've missed somwhere so mine does the same as his.
I'm running win2000(pro), Acad 2002.
Look forward to your help in this matter

Posted - April 14 2004 : 4:23:09 PM Hi rgbargy,
Another thing you can try, is just set the SDI system variable to 0.
Just type SDI at the AutoCAD command prompt, then respond with 0. I am betting that you currently have it set to 1.
(You can enable/disable this in Hurricane's PREBATCH and POSTBATCH command areas (on the Settings Tab).
Hope this helps!

Check to see if you are set for Single or Multiple Document Interface. Type "SDI" (without the quotes) at the command prompt in AutoCAD. If the default is "1", AutoCAD is set for Single Document Interface, and may result in the type of problem you are experiencing. Enter a "0" (zero, without the quotes) to set for Multiple Document Interface. Exit and restart AutoCAD and see if you have different results. If not, I would recommend that you reset your SDI to 1, as before, then consider the following:
I think that a setting in your "File Types" in your operating system may have been turned off inadvertantly. I am running Windows XP, so the procedure might vary slightly. I will a give you step by step method to check and optionally "fix" the setting, but please be careful, and if you are at all unsure at any point, please do not proceed, as it could cause you a great deal of difficulty if something goes wrong. If you would like to send me your email address, I can attach a number of screen shots that might be of help, also.
Steps: 1.) Start button. 2.) Control Panel. 3.) Folder Options. 4.) File Types Tab. 5.) Scroll to and Highlight "DWG". 6.) Advanced Button at bottom. 7.) Highlight "Launch AutoCAD" or "Open", whichever shows up. 8.) Edit Button.
The "Use DDE" box should be checked here. If not you might attempt to fix the problem as follows:
9.) Check "Use DDE". 10.) DDE Message box should read: [open("%1")] 11.) Application box should read: acad 12.) Topic box should read: system 13.) DDE application not running box should be empty. |
