I have been trying to figure out a way to do something for a while....The FILEDRIVE, FILEPATH, + & - tags have really enhanced the AUTOMATION I am striving to achieve. Ultimately...what I want is to just have a set of standard scripts that would apply to all the ongoing projects. Instead of different versions of scripts for each project.
As I stated earlier... I have a need for Hurricane to automatically select a particular TAG based on the DIRECTORY of the currently opened queued file.... A TAG that will grab some job specific data...A TAG that would be a Hurricane setup item.
Every project needs to be setup to one extent or another. Setting up PROJECTDATA tag(s) for a new project COULD be less cumbersome, then copying/renaming an existing script and then modifying that script ....filter the script list down to a manageable size....then pick one of those 218 scripts....
I have attached a file... My thoughts have been illustrated...hopefully better than my words....
Does anyone else out there see there own use for this

hmmm...just thinking...
If it wasn't obvious....this would need to work smoothly in a network environment, (the way to get the most out of Hurricane anyway ).
I know there was some past discussions regarding 'default templates'...'default TAGS"...etc. If there was only one set of PROJECTDATA tags and it always looked in the same place for these PROJECTDATA tags, I dont see any hangups. If there was several different sets of PROJECTDATA tags I see some issues.
The ability to save template sets of 40 for the USER TAGS is great!...We was use that feature a lot...but I think the same the same concept for the PROJECTDATA tags will give me a few 's...

That's true... ...My "N" drive, might show up as your "Q" drive, even though they are mapped to the same physical network drives.
...I would like think that any drafting department would have the mapped drives standardized...especially network drives hosting projects.
On the otherhand... if there was such a CAD department which had fourteen draftsman working on fourteen separate stations mapped to the same physical network drive...each station having there own unique drive letter....well then...so be it...they are definitely NOT my competitor...
However......Hurricane could simplify life for them and allow them the browse to the projects physical location... \serverjobs |

Ok!
Here is the update (in beta)...
I would love some feedback... but everything seems to be functional. I have added the "Active/Inactive" to take projects out of the "scan", and a feature to disable the new feature all together (because it can really take up a few cycles on a large queue with many projects defined)... plus a slew of other cosmetic changes.
(Of course, make sure you backup your old hurricane.exe, this one is v6.1.14) Instructions on how to use all this will follow... have fun playing around with it.
Cheers! Download Attachment: hurricane-6.1.14-beta.zip 135.36 KB |

WOW Powerful stuff!
T H A N K S !!!
I see that to use the PROJECT TAG feature, you first have to enable the feature (menu item) in the Tools->Options->GUI menu...Once enabled, the Project Tag Manager is in the Tools menu. (not "grayed out")
I like the wildcard feature in the ProjectTagManager!!! Being able to put wildcards in the "assigned path" means "?:drawingsin here"" is valid for any drive and likewise "?:drawings*in here*199?"" is also valid.
Organizing the TAGS into 4 different categories... Dynamic, Static, Project and META really cleaned that up...
Awesome...Le..Me... see if I can break it... |
